To hide your group’s member list, your group must first be a Supergroup (usually having more than 100 members or having been converted by making it public/enabling topics).
Steps to Hide the Member List
Only the Owner or Administrators with the “Change Info” permission can toggle this setting:
-
Open Group Settings: Tap the group name at the top, then tap the Edit (pencil icon) or Settings.
-
Navigate to Members: Scroll down and tap on the Members section.
-
Toggle “Hide Members”: At the top of the list, look for the Hide Members switch and turn it ON.
-
Save Changes: Tap the checkmark or “Done” to apply.
Important Details
-
Visibility: Once hidden, the member list is invisible to regular members. Only Admins will be able to see the full list.
-
Availability: If you don’t see the “Hide Members” option, it’s usually because the group has fewer than 100 members. Telegram typically only enables this feature for larger communities to prevent “scraping” (bots stealing member data).
-
Search Limitation: Even with this setting on, members can still see themselves in the list and can see anyone they have saved in their own phone contacts who is also in the group.
